Washongton State Hospitalized Veterans Emergency Exit Assistance Program
Mothers of Military
Support, in association with the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs and Mr. Tom
Riggs, have created the Hospitalized Veterans Emergency Exit Transition Assistance Program
(WSHVEETAP). This program is designed to give you an opportunity to reach out and touch
one of our great Service Members and offer them assistance in a time of need.
Tom is a Program Manager
with the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs. His responsibility is to the men and
women in the Warrior Transition Unit at Madigan Army Medical Center. These men and women,
serving in all service components have been injured in the line of duty serving our great
country. Tom provides access to resources and counseling and helps them transition back to
a civilian life.
Tom spent 30 years on
active duty in the Army, and is a retired Sergeant Major. He spent the majority of his
career counseling, presenting solid information on veterans benefits, and helping
young families adjust to the rigors of service.
After retirement, he worked
in sales and customer service for eight years, and then returned to his first love of
serving the military and our veterans after 9/11. Tom makes his home in Lakewood,
Washington with his wife of 40 years, Martha, and enjoys traveling and visiting his grown
children and grandchildren.
